Who Seeks Help From The Harbour?
Clients diagnosed with mental illness, ages 18-59, who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless may be referred to The Harbour. Treatment is also provided for dually diagnosed clients.
What Services Are Provided By The Harbour?
The Harbour is a 24-hour transitional residential care facility which provides a safe environment where clients can live, receive mental health care, and plan for the future under the guidance of counselors and licensed therapists. Psychiatric staff is available to treat those in need of medication for their mental illness.
A client resides at The Harbour for six to nine months during which time he or she may work, attend school, volunteer in the community, and participate in the Center’s Adult Day Treatment Intensive, Adult Day Treatment Rehabilitation or Victory Clubhouse programs.
Referrals are accepted on a 24-hour basis, but preferably between 8a.m. and 5p.m., Monday - Friday. Potential clients are screened on-site. If they are not receiving public benefits, assistance is provided to obtain them.
How The Harbour Program Can Help
Clients participate in individual and group sessions which provide mental health care, medication monitoring and basic life skills training.
Clients also receive help in locating and obtaining long-term affordable housing, either independently in the community or in the Center’s Satellite Housing program. For clients who need vocational training and assistance in obtaining employment, the Center’s Valley Employment Services program is available.
Fees
Fees are based on ability to pay. Clients who are not already receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), General Relief (GR), MediCal, or Medicare will receive assistance in obtaining these benefits. Private insurance payments are also accepted.
Funding
Funds are provided in whole or in part by the County of Los Angeles through the Department of Mental Health.
