Mission
The Central Valley Youth and Family Center’s mission is to provide clinic and school-based services to meet the needs of emotionally disturbed children and adolescents who may also suffer from substance abuse. The goal is to enable youth to remain in their current home and school environments while developing coping skills, a positive sense of self-worth, and an enriched quality of life.
Who Seeks Help from Central Valley Youth and Family Center?
Families with a child or adolescent with an emotional or behavioral problems may receive care in this program.
What Services Are Provided By Central Valley Youth and Family Center?
The Center offers a variety of outpatient services, both in the clinic and at selected school sites in the San Fernando Valley. Depending upon the needs of the child, types of services provided and duration may vary. Available services include:
Youth in this program receive help in developing coping skills, reducing symptomology, and achieving a positive attitude of self-worth. Families are helped with their interactions and included as full partners in their child's therapeutic care. While receiving treatment, children are able to remain in their home and school environments.
In addition to providing treatment at the clinic, the program provides school-based services.
Fees
Fees are based upon each family's ability to pay. Remaining costs are covered by Medi-Cal or Short/Doyle funds for clients without Medi-Cal.
Referral Procedures
Referrals are accepted from: L.A. County Departments of Mental Health; Child and Family Services, and Probation; schools; hospitals; community centers; private providers; and self-referrals.
Funding
Funds are provided in whole or in part by the County of Los Angeles through the Department of Mental Health.
Intakes
At the request of a parent or guardian, intakes are scheduled during program hours. For crisis situations and post-hospital care, intakes are completed within 72 hours of application.
Cost
Costs are covered by Medi-Cal under EPSDT funding. Limited funds are available to cover children without MediCal insurance.
Hours
Clinic Based Services:
Mon - Thurs: 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Fri: 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
School Based Services:
School Days: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Spanish language services are available for monolingual families.
